Volunteer Form: The Witch and the Glitch

PERFORMANCE DATES Feb 15 – Mar 3, 2024
Rehearsals/Prep Starting in January

We’d love to have some help with a few things. If you want to lend a hand, please check the list and then fill in this form to tell us your interests. Some of the jobs will only take place during the show run – (front of house, door attendant, for example) – for those positions, we are not expecting any one person to volunteer for the whole run. One show is helpful, and we can use up to twelve people (one per performance!).

These positions are suitable for teens to adults. If you are a teen looking for volunteer hours, we can provide some.

Volunteers who take the front of house and door attendant positions are welcome to stay and watch the show on the night that they volunteer. Other volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket for the Dress Rehearsal.

WHAT KIND OF HELP DO WE NEED?

  • Front of House USHER – arrive an hour before curtain (6:30pm evening shows, 1:30pm matinees), set the place straight, sweep floors if needed, ensure that washrooms have paper, set up the hospitality table, check that the programme posters are visible, greet guests, help them find the studio and washrooms, invite them to have a cookie and beverage. After the show, sweep up cookie crumbs/ any garbage, tidy the house, collect dirty cups and mugs clear up the hospitality table. *there are 12 performances that need an usher – we are not expecting any one person to volunteer for the whole time, even one performance helps if we have enough people.
  • Front of House DOOR ATTENDANT – arrive 15 minutes before the doors open (6:45 and 1:45) pick up the guest list and set out the sandwich board. At house open (the half hour before show) – attend the door with the Manager to be a second person on site. This position is more suited to an adult, as some of the people approaching will not have tickets, and may wish to enter, anyway. Kind and firm individuals are needed.
  • Costume Prep – various times as agreed upon. The Costume prep will help the costumer put pieces right (steaming, ironing – possible going to the laundromat) – may be needed to reattach buttons or downed hems. This is not costume-building, and we can train. Best suited for someone who can be available for the pre-production period, and possibly once a week during production.
  • Studio Assistant – needed the week/end before the show opens (Feb 10/11/12/13) to help clean the studio (wipe down dust, use lint brush on the chairs, wash the floor and risers, tidy up) – this work can be done Saturday in the late afternoon/evening, Sunday late afternoon, Monday – Thursday in the daytime. We will work out a schedule with interested people.
  • Post-Production help – someone to help clean costumes, return props, costumes, & set to their original storage or positions, get the place back to better than normal. Needed in the week following the close of show (March 4 – 9) daytime.
  • Pre-production help – January – February help with painting flats, risers, cleaning up the space. The studio is busy every night from January – June because of Stage Right & Musical Theatre class and the Studio Series – so this work needs to be done in the daytime during the week, or possibly on Sunday evenings.
